Equipment, Lodging, Logistics:
Your gear will be moved for you. You must pack and label your gear.
Camping on Friday and Saturday night is included in your reservation cost. If you want to rent a cottage either night, you must call the parks and make your separate reservation. You will need to be able to bring your gear from the cottage to the camping area where the event sponsors will pick it up and transport it to the next staging area for that day.
Ride sponsors provide transportation for you and your gear from Plains to Florence Marina on Friday. Leave your car in Plains to pick up on Sunday.
As with most rides, experts are in the lead so as not to slow down the progress and flow of traffic. Intermediate riders are next with the slower beginners riding toward the back. The SAG truck follows and will be closest to the riders who might need the most assistance.
This fun 3 days/2 nights bike ride takes place between State and National Park sites including
Florence Marina State Park
Georgia Veterans State Park
SAM Shortline Excursion Train
Jimmy Carter National Historic Site
Andersonville National Historic Site and Cemetery
. The registration fee includes overnight camping and there will be entertainment, food, activities and programs along the way as well as frequent water stops.
If preferred, a limited number of cottages are available at Florence Marina and lodging is also available at Lake Blackshear Resort. Reservations should be made separately at these locations and transportation to and from them to the ride venues is on your own.

This event is part of the
Get Outdoors Georgia
program that encourages Georgians to “Get Out. Get Dirty. Get Fit.” in Georgia State Parks. It is also a priority initiative of President Obama’s America’s Great Outdoors (AGO) program. The vision of AGO to connect or re-connect Americans with the great outdoors through recreation and education. The bike ride provides healthy outdoor recreation for youth and adults and highlights the opportunities for recreation offered by the State and National Park sites.
It is hoped that this project will become an annual event that can enhance partnerships between state and federal agencies for healthy outdoor recreation and natural resource conservation in Georgia.
