The Gopher Tortoise is on Georgia's "threatened" list. Crooked River State Park is proud to have a large nesting site for these reptiles. There is one major nesting area near the cottages and other nests throughout the Park. We are finding new nesting sites and hope our tortoise population will continue to grow.
