Tallulah Gorge Water Releases - 2009

Aesthetic Water Releases (200 cubic feet per second) / 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
This water flow is a historical glimpse of Tallulah River’s water flow prior to the building of the dam in 1912. Hiking and rock climbing in the gorge are not allowed on these dates:
 
  • September 19, 20, 26, 27, 30
  • October 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 31
  • November 1

    Whitewater Boating Weekends (500-700 cubic feet per second) / 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
    Water thunders through the gorge as kayakers challenge their skills and spectators watch from the rim. Hiking and rock climbing in the gorge are not allowed on these dates:
     
  • November 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22
  •  
         
    **Gorge-floor and climbing permits will not be issued during any water release dates. **
         
    NOTE: Water releases may be cancelled if inflow conditions do not allow sufficient stream flow. For more information on these or other park events, contact Tallulah Gorge State Park at 706-754-7981.
