Civil War Junior Ranger Camp

Join us for this Civil War-themed Junior Ranger Camp. Ages between 8 and 12 years old. See black powder weapons firing, including a cannon. Feel a slithering snake in your hand, get your feet wet in a creek hike while earning a Junior Ranger badge. Pre-Registration is required. Spaces are limited.

THURSDAY: Go on a wildlife observation hike. Look for animal tracks and make plaster casts. Play historical games and sing historical songs. Work on completing your Junior Ranger badge.
FRIDAY: Take a walk in the woods to learn how civillians used native plants during the Civil War. Participate in making hardtack, sewing, tin punching, and making your own flag.
SATURDAY: Experience the army way of life during the Civil War. Learn what a soldier`s life was like during the war. Go on a guided hayride out to the trenches. See black powder weapons firing demonstrations including a cannon. All this will be followed by a cookout.

Located Take I-20 exit #44. Turn onto Thornton Road. (Highway 278) Follow Highway 278 West for 10 miles. Make a right onto Highway 92. Travel North on Highway 92 for approximately 6 miles. Look for brown Pickett's Mill signs as you continue. Turn left onto Due West Road. Continue 2 miles. Turn right onto Mount Tabor Church Road. Travel half a mile and the site on the right.
