Swamper's Guide to the Galaxy

Sunday, Jul 2, 2017 (9:30 PM to 10 PM)

Watch for meteors, planets, observe the moon or take in all the stars above as we gaze upon a truly dark sky from deep within the Okefenokee. We will use both our unaided eyes and telescopes while we stargaze. Stephen C. Foster State Park is one of the darkest places in the Southeast due to a lack of light pollution in the Okefenokee Swamp.

We will meet at the Trading Post parking lot. Please park in the Trading post parking lot. Please minimize light use. Light, other than filtered red light, will drastically impact viewing. Park Gates close at 10:00 pm. If you are not staying on the park you must leave before gates close.

Parking fee: $5
Event Phone: 912-637-5274
