Digging Savannah Guided Hike
Status: Archived

Learn about the archaeological sites of Skidaway Island. This is a special event led by Armstrong State University archaeologist Laura Seifert. Meet at the Big Ferry Trail.

The popular Digging Savannah Guided Hikes return to the park! The three-mile hikes will be led by Armstrong Atlantic State University archaeologist Laura Seifert and starts at the Big Ferry Trail head.

Spanning more than 5,000 years of history and prehistory, the park’s archaeology sites give us the opportunity to trace Skidaway Island’s past from Late Archaic Native Americans to the 20th century.

The hike is recommended for kids and adults 12 years and older and is expected to be approximately 2 hours. Advanced tickets only. Tickets are $10 per person and available online only. Friends of Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites members attend for free. Friends members, please RSVP at the ticketing link (http://gastateparks.givezooks.com).
