Georgia’s State Parks Beckon Couples with Affordable Winter Romance Rates

Up to 30% Savings, Fewer Crowds and Natural Settings Provide
a Secluded Romantic Retreat for Valentine’s or Winter Getaways

ATLANTA, January 18, 2011 – Couples looking for a romantic escape can warm up with great savings and take advantage of smaller crowds at Georgia State Parks this winter. Through February 28, 2011, solitude-seekers can book a lodge room, cottage, campsite or yurt and save 25% on weekends (Friday and Saturday) and 30% on weeknights (Sunday through Thursday), based on availability.

Winter is the perfect time to enjoy Georgia’s State Parks as there are fewer crowds and more opportunities to view wildlife and reconnect with loved ones. Lakes, mountains and forests in pristine outdoor settings are perfect for couples interested in a cozy winter retreat. Georgia State Park Lodges offer an affordable alternative for those interested in enjoying the serenity of great outdoors by day with the comfort of hotel-style amenities by night. Four lodges feature comfortable accommodations and full-service restaurants. For $89 a weekend night, couples can enjoy a romantic getaway at Unicoi State Park, located near the quaint Alpine village of Helen. For golf lovers, there are well-manicured courses at Little Ocmulgee and George T. Bagby state parks with lodges. · Cottages Offer a Cozy Escape
Couples looking for a cozy escape can choose from approximately 30 state parks with cottages. For $86.25 a weekend night, travelers can enjoy a two-bedroom cottage at F.D. Roosevelt State Park near Pine Mountain. Georgia State Park cottages feature well-equipped kitchens, comfortable furnishings, and warm fireplaces or wood-burning stoves. In addition to the popular Georgia mountain facilities at Cloudland Canyon, Vogel, Fort Mountain and Black Rock Mountain state parks, other inviting locations include Florence Marina State Park on Lake Walter F. Campsites at Skidaway Island State Park near historic Savannah, and most other state parks in Georgia, are only $18.75 on a weekend night. No RV or winter tent? Rent a yurt, which is like a wooden and canvas tent with deck, picnic table and grill. Yurts can be found at Red Top Mountain, High Falls and Fort Yargo state parks.
