Learn about the Civilian Conservation Corps, visit an old black-smith shop, and possibly see or hear the wildlife that call the park home. Lake Rutledge is a great place to enjoy the night sky. Join this ranger-led tour of the lake and enjoy night sounds, star-gazing, and a relaxing time on the water. A new moon means that many stars will be visible on the night-time paddle. Register in advance.  $15 plus $5 parking. 706-557-3001.

Georgia State University's Observatory will have an open house monthly. In case of inclement weather, facilities will be open for a tour and slideshow. Night sky observations start one half hour after sunset. Open house lasts all day. Large groups need reservations: 404-413-6024. 706-557-3001.
