Helping Hands for Wildlife: Gopher Tortoise Workshop

Find out how you can help a declining species: the Gopher Tortoise. Enjoy an educational field day and workshop for anyone, from landowners, farmers, civic clubs, social organizations, school classes, or a curious individual. We all play a roll in helping our wildlife, spend the day finding out what you can do.

There is a star studded list of speakers offering information from all perspectives including:
- The Gopher Tortoise Council
- Georgia Department of Natural Resources
- Georgia Forestry
- US Fish and Wildlife

Topics to be covered include:
- Ecology and Habitat of the Tortoise
- Threats and Federal Listings
- Invasive plants and Importance of Prescribed Burns
- Conservation Programs
- Conservation Measures and Identification

Lunch is provided, and comfortable shoes are recommended for the afternoon hike.
