Junior Golf Tour


ATLANTA, (DEC. 8, 2010) – On Saturday and Sunday, December 4 and 5, the Georgia Junior Golf Tour (GJGT) closed the season with the Champion’s Cup at Little Ocmulgee’s Wallace Adams golf course in McRae, Ga. The top 15 places from each age division played the par 72 course in pairs. The 6,625 yard course was full of challenges and required a great deal of skill to maneuver the green.

Top placing athletes included Austin Fulton from Villa Rica, Tyler and Jacob Joiner for Albany, Bruce Ferguson from Rutledge, Jensen Rainey from Chauncey, Ethan Davidson from Leesburg, Abigail Bolt from Woodstock, Anna Buchanan from Athens, Aaron Boyd from Waycross, Katie Dalton from Vidalia, and Kayson Cowart form Bronwood, Georgia.

Andrew Eunice from Moultrie, Georgia and Hanna Barger from Elberton both earned their way to the American Junior Golf Association tournament; an nationwide invite-only event that recruits players based on performance.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better season or a more well –rounded group of athletes,” said GJGT Director Karl Gross. “We will definitely be seeing these talented individuals again on the high school, collegiate and even professional level.”

Get Outdoors Georgia
The hosting of the Georgia Junior Golf Tour by the Georgia State Parks Golf and the Department of Natural Resources is part of the organizations’ initiative to get citizens to “Get Out. Get Dirty. Get Fit.” in the great outdoors.

About Georgia Junior Golf Tour
The aim of the Junior Golf Tour is to promote and grow the game of golf through fun and professionally conducted events, using the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ PGA of America golf professionals and the USGA Rules of Golf. The tour consists if exceptional junior golf tournaments in a fair, highly competitive manner with reasonable entry fees and encourages and atmosphere of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
