ATLANTA, November 18, 2011 – Georgia’s State Parks provide families and couples alike a staycation alternative for the holidays and long winter months ahead. From festive Christmas packages and golf retreats to winter rates with savings up to 30%, Georgia’s State Parks offer a cozy and affordable vacation getaway without the hustle and bustle of traffic and crowds. Below is a sampling of the holiday and winter packages currently available.

  • Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge, Dawsonville.  Home to the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River, this secluded 56-room hideaway is kicking off the season of giving with a special “Holiday Shopping”package.  Available November 27 through December 20, and starting at $110 per night, the package includes a standard double lodge room, dinner and breakfast for two in the mountain-view restaurant, and a shoppers VIP pack with offers from the area’s best stores, including the North Georgia Premium Outlets.  Call 1-800-573-9656 for reservations.
  • Mistletoe State Park, Appling.  Located on 71,000-acre Clarks Hill Lake near Augusta, this park is known as one of the finest bass fishing spots in the nation.
