Week 1

• Orientation

  Meet personnel, orient to office, site and facilities
  Review D.N.R. policies, chain of command, computer use, and housing

• Outline internship program, plan and rewrite this curriculum to meet the needs and interest of both the
• Division and the student intern
• Review PMF for internship
• Intern project - Intern should complete a project by the end of week 14. Project to be approved by manager or supervisor
• Daily Set-Up/Scheduling

Week 2

• Square footages for golf course
• Identification of turf species and cultivars
• Identification of soil types

Week 3

• Equipment Familiarization/Preventive Maintenance
• Greens Care (mowing, cup cutting, ball mark repair…etc.)
• Mowing routines

Week 4

• Tees, collar and approach maintenance
• Fairway maintenance

Week 5

• Rough Maintenance
• Golf Course Landscaping

Week 6

• Introduction to Integrated Pest Management
• Pest Identification (Field trip to Fargo)
• Pesticide Familiarization
• HAZMAT and Safe Handling Procedures

Week 7

• Sprayer Familiarization and Calibration
• Pesticide Application
• Mid-term Evaluation

Week 8

• Introduction to Irrigation System
• Head Maintenance and Repair
• Controller Troubleshooting
• Pump Maintenance and Repair
• Site Pro Introduction

Week 9

• Visit to Golf Region Office
• Visit other State Golf Courses

Week 10

• Fertilizer Program Review
• Soil Sample Review
• Spreader Calibration

Week 11

• Trap Maintenance and Construction
• Drainage

Week 12

• Greens Culture (Aerification/Spiking/Verticutting)
• Disease Management

Week 13

• Pro Shop Operations
• Tournament Preparations

Week 14

• Spend Week in Shop with Equipment Technician
• Equipment Maintenance & Inventory
• Complete project

Week 15

• Final Review and Evaluation of Experience
• Internship project presentation and evaluations

  Intern will present his/her project to operations team members in an oral and written format
  All assignments of the PMF should be completed and turned in.
  Evaluations of the intern project, PMF performance and the interns evaluation should be complete
  Submit Report on Golf Course Management Strategies

• All checkout procedures and return of equipment and supplies completed
• Summary of hiring process and application review
