Family Fun Day | 10 AM to 6 PM

Crooked River State Park | St. Marys, GA
Activities will include competitions, games, 3D archery shooting, fishing simulator, County Sheriff K9 demonstrations, and more. Live musical entertainment throughout the day. This event is sponsored by C. MO’S KIDS. They will have a drink and BBQ sale. $5 parking. 912-882-5256.

J.A.K.E.S Day and Junior Fishing Derby | 10 AM to 2 PM
General Coffee State Park | Nicholls, GA
Get you kids involved with outdoor recreation. Let the park staff and our wonderful volunteers introduce them to archery, recreational target shooting, fishing and more. Bring your own bait and fishing pole. free, donations appreciated $5 parking. 912-384-7082.


National Train Day Celebration | 10 AM

Junior Fishing Rodeo | 8:30 AM to 11 AM
Victoria Bryant State Park | Royston, GA
Registration will begin at 8:30 am. We will hold the Rodeo at the back pond. It is for children ages 16 yrs. or younger. All participates must be registered or in line to register by 9:00 am to be eligible for prizes. $5 parking. 706-245-6270.

Meet a snake. Talk to a turtle. Discover fascinating facts about our local scaly residents. Cement seats. You may want to bring a chair. Meet at amphitheater next to the Park Office. $3 plus $5 parking. 706-663-4858.


Billy's Island & Okefenokee Swamp Tour | 10 AM to 12 PM
Stephen C. Foster State Park | Fargo, GA
Join us for a tour of historic Billy's Island. This island was home to Native Americans, pioneers, and lumbermen for thousands of years. We will take a boat out to the island and hike the short trail, about 3/4 of a mile, and view some of the relics left from times past. $15-$20 $5 parking. 912-637-5274.

Artifact ID and Celebrate Archaeology | 10 AM to 4 PM
Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site | Cartersville, GA
Celebrate Archaeology month by learning about archaeology. Dr. Lloyud Schroder will be here to identify your artifacts, so bring them by. Staff from the Waring Lab will be here after noon to show you how archaeologist learn things from artifacts. Park staff will host games and activities throughout the day. $2-$6. 770-387-3747.

Full Moon Kayak Tour | 8 PM to 10 PM
Hard Labor Creek State Park - Rutledge, GA
Join a guided tour of Lake Rutledge, and enjoy a peaceful paddle under a bright moon. Listen for night sounds, enjoy the night sky, and learn about the history of Hard Labor Creek State Park. There will be "Super Moons during the months of July, August and September this summer of 2014. Register in advance. $15 plus $5 parking. 706-557-3001.


Tree Top Excursions: Introduction Climb | 1 PM and 3 PM
Panola Mountain State Park | Stockbridge, GA
Join us "on rope" for an adventure exploring the canopy above. Participants will use rope and harness for this moderately strenuous activity. One group will start at 1PM; another group will start at 3PM. Please arrive 15 minutes before each program. Participants must register in advance. $15 plus $5 parking. 770-389-7801.


Indoor Basic Archery | 10 AM to 12 PM | 2 PM to 4 PM
Panola Mountain State Park | Stockbridge, GA
Come to the nature center for indoor archery and join a certified instructor to learn the basics. All equipment provided. If you have your own equipment, cost includes an all-day archery range pass. Ages 9 and up. Arrive 15 minutes early. Register in advance. $10 plus $5 parking. 770-389-7801.


Little River Paddle Tour | 9 AM to 12 PM

Have you ever enjoyed a leisurely paddle down the Little River? If not, then this is perfect for you to join our Rangers with a guided tour down 3 miles of Little River. We will start off with basics before we set off. $10/person; $15/person includes rental. $5 parking. 229-896-3551.


Reed Bingham Cruise | 5 PM to 7 PM
Reed Bingham State Park | Adel, GA
All Aboard, for the Little River and Lake Reed Bingham Cruise. This cruise will take you all around the lake and river as our naturalist talks about the blackwaters of South Georgia and everything around it. $8/adult; $5/child $5 parking. 229-896-3551.


Youth Fishing Days at Buck Shoals | 8 AM to 12 PM
Smithgall Woods State Park | Helen, GA
Children and their special "big person" can fish in a lake stocked with catfish, bass and bream. Fish caught can be kept. Bring your own bait (no corn) and rods. This event is not at Smithgall Woods, but at Buck Shoals, a nearby unopened state park. Call for directions. Occurs every third Saturday through September. $5 parking. 706-878-3087.


Wildflower Hunt at Hardman Farm | 9 AM to 11 AM

Enjoy a stroll around Hardman Farm enjoying the arrival of spring. Learn about flowers and plants that grow on this historic farm. This walk does not include a tour of the home. Register by May 14. $5. 706-878-3087.

NEGAS Doggie Pageant | 1:30 PM

Dress up your pooch and join us for a “Doggie Pageant” to benefit the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter. Registration begins at 1:30pm.
