Located on 72,000-acre Clarks Hill Lake near Augusta, this park is known as one of the finest bass fishing spots in the nation. During the summer, guests can cool down at the beach or on miles of shaded nature trails. A wildlife observation area is available. The park has 10 fully equipped cottages on the lake, five of which are log cabins. The campground is situated on a peninsula, offering spectacular views of both sunset and sunrise over the open water. A one-room camper cabin faces the lake, offering a porch with rocking chairs, electricity, four bed platforms, a grill, picnic table and water spigot.

Get Outdoors Georgia Pioneer & Indian Junior Rangers

This program is for children 6-12 years old. They will learn the skills of fire making, build their own shelter, hike and learn how important wildlife and plants were to Indian and Pioneer everyday living. Children will make their own butter, candle, whistle and candle holder to take home...  $20. 706-541-0321.
Candy Cane Campground
Saturday, Dec 12, 2009 11 AM to 1 PM
Munch on cookies and sip spiced tea while you create your own edible campground complete with tents and RVs. Or try your hand at a log cabin or a boat on a blue icing lake. All materials will be furnished. You can bring your own decorations, but please bring enough to share.  $3 plus $5 parking. 706-541-0321.
Get Outdoors Georgia Meteor Madness - Geminid Adventure
Monday, Dec 14, 2009 2 AM to 5 AM
Adventurers will be led to a dark lakeshore point for a spectacular view of the Geminid Meteor shower. After the display, enjoy an early morning breakfast of coffee and cheese grits prepared over a campfire. Bring a blanket or chair.
