Trails at Amicalola Falls
EAST RIDGE TRAIL (OLD APPALACHIAN APPROACH TRAIL)
1 mile. Rated moderate to strenuous. Not blazed. Leads from Visitor Center to the top of the falls.
CREEK TRAIL
0.6 miles. Rated moderate. Blazed yellow.
This trail is moderate in difficulty. Length is 0.6 mile, providing a nice walk from the Visitor Center to the Reflection Pool at the base of the falls.
SPRING TRAIL
0.4 mile. Rated moderate. Blazed orange.
This trail runs from the parking lot of the West Ridge/Falls Access Trail to the Mountain Laurel Loop Trail. It is moderate in difficulty.
MOUNTAIN LAUREL LOOP
1 mile. Rated moderate. Blazed green.
This trail is a loop that runs along the ridge above Amicalola Creek. The trail is moderate in difficulty. Length is 1 mile and sections of the trail can be used along with the Spring Trail, the West Ridge Falls Access, and the West Ridge Stairs to connect the lower sections of the park to the upper areas.
NEW APPALACHIAN APPROACH TRAIL/BASE OF THE FALLS TRAIL
8.5 miles. First mile (including 604 step staircase) takes hikers to the falls overlook, then joins the old Appalachian Approach Trail. Briefly joins Hike Inn Trail, then forks left. Rated moderate to strenuous. Blazed blue.
Very scenic as it runs along the creek below the falls and eventually climbs the falls corridor itself on a series of stairs and decks. This trail is moderate to strenuous due to the steep slope and stairs.
WEST RIDGE FALLS ACCESS TRAIL
0.3 miles. Rated moderate to easy. Wheelchair accessible with gentle slope.
One of the best views of the falls and one of the easier trails. Trail surface is flat and coated with recycled tires.
LODGE LOOP
0.25 mile loop. Rated easy. Wheelchair accessible.
Paved surface with educational displays. Trail is lighted for early morning and/or evening use.
HIKE INN TRAIL
5.5 miles. Rated moderate. Blazed yellow.
This trail is the only access to the Len Foote Hike Inn. A permit must be obtained from the Visitor Center to hike this trail.
FITNESS TRAIL
Easy access from the lodge. More than 20 exercise stations along the wooded route.
