Accommodations at Georgia State Parks
Cottages at Georgia State Parks

  Cottages
Cozy cottages with one, two or three bedrooms are available at nearly 30 state parks. In most cases, they are located on lakes or hillsides, providing spectacular views. They are fully equipped with stoves, refrigerators, kitchen and dining utensils, bed linens, blankets and towels. All cottages have heat and air conditioning. Many cottages have televisions, screened porches or decks and woodburning fireplaces or stoves. Firewood, paper towels and dish soap are not provided. Rates range from around $85 to $160 per night, depending on location, season and size.

FIDO FRIENDLY COTTAGES: Dogs are allowed ONLY in select cottages with advance reservations.  Additional fee applies.

Cottages are not designed for organized groups; groups are urged to utilize group lodges at parks where they are available.  Cottage occupancies are not to exceed maximum recommended and furniture and supplies are not to be transported between cottages.

Group Lodges: Your Own Private Retreat  (Not reservable online, call 1-800-864-7275)
A group lodge is one large facility with dormitory sleeping quarters for 12 to 50, restrooms with hot showers, and a kitchen and dining area. Guests provide their own linens. Minimum occupancy is two nights, and a deposit is required. Cancellations must be made at least one month in advance and will be assessed a $10 fee. Group lodges are found at Cloudland Canyon, John Tanner, George T. Bagby and General Coffee and Magnolia Springs state parks. Rates range from $95 - $200.

    Things to Know about Cottages

Minimum Stay: Most parks require a two-night minimum with advance reservations; however, some may accept walk-ins for one night. Many parks require a five- or seven-night minimum June 1 through Labor Day. Shorter stays are allowed for reservations made less than 30 days in advance. A three-night minimum is required for Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving weekends.

Deposits and Cancellations: A deposit of one night’s lodging is required. Deposits may be refunded if a minimum of 72 hours cancellation notice is given, minus a $10 per unit cancellation fee. Any unused portion of a reservation may be refunded only if minimum occupancy has been met. Because deposit restrictions may apply to reservations of 7 to 14 days, guests should confirm cancellation policies before making a reservation.  Reservations may be transferred once to another date, facility or park without penalty, if made at least 72 hours in advance.  Cancellations or reservation changes cannot be made online.  Please call 1-800-864-7275.

Occupancy: Visitors occupying a cottage for 14 nights must vacate the park for at least four nights before returning. Cottages may not be used to accommodate more than their stated capacities.

Check-In: Check-in is between 4 and 10 p.m., and check-out is 11 a.m. A reservation confirmation must be presented at check-in. Guests must pay the full balance of their reservation upon check-in. Both the reservation and deposit are forfeited if the guest does not check in by 10 p.m. on the scheduled arrival date. Most park gates are locked at 10 p.m. A late fee will be charged after 11 a.m. unless a check-out extension is permitted by the Park Office.

Rules: NEW FIDO FRIENDLY COTTAGES. Dogs are now allowed ONLY in cottages designated as "pet friendly." (Additional fee charged; reservations required; dogs only.) Pets are not allowed in or around any other cottages. Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Furnishings and linens may not be carried outside cottages. Occupants will be charged for damaged or missing items. Small groups such as Scouts may occupy a single cottage during a park’s off-season provided the group is properly chaperoned and capacity is not exceeded.  Dishes should be washed and put away and the cottage left in good condition.
