Cabins/Cottages at Georgia State Parks
  Cabins / Cottages
Cozy cabins with one, two or three bedrooms are available at nearly 30 state parks. In most cases, they are located on lakes or hillsides, providing spectacular views.  Cabins are as diverse as the parks themselves, such as the historic 1930s stone cottages at F.D. Roosevelt, the round "barrel" cottages at Unicoi and the luxurious cabins at Smithgall Woods.

Cabins are fully equipped with stoves, refrigerators, kitchen and dining utensils, bed linens, blankets and towels. Those at F.D. Roosevelt do not have televisions.  All cabins have heat and air conditioning. Many cabins have televisions, screened porches or decks and woodburning fireplaces or stoves. Firewood, paper towels and dish soap are typically not provided. Rates range from around $85 to $250 per night, depending on location, season and size.  We do not charge a separate cleaning fee.

Cabins / cottages are not designed for organized groups; groups are urged to use group lodges at the parks where they are available.  Cottage occupancies are not to exceed maximum recommended capacity.  Furniture and supplies are not to be transported between cottages.

  Camper Cabins
Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah – These small camper cabins offer a master bedroom and sleeping loft, bathroom with shower, kitchen, screened porch and heat/AC. Guests bring their own linens, towels, dishes and cooking utensils. Outside, visitors will find a picnic table, grill and fire ring. Pets are not allowed.

Fort Yargo State Park, Winder – Fort Yargo’s camper cabins are much like regular cabins, only slightly smaller. They have two bedrooms, a sleeper sofa, one bath, a kitchen, television, screened porch and heat/AC. Guests bring their own linens, towels, dishes and cooking utensils. Linen service is available for a small fee. Outside, visitors will find a picnic table, grill and fire ring. Some units are dog-friendly (pet fee).

Things to Know about Cottages

Minimum Stay: Most parks require a two-night minimum with advance reservations; however, some may accept walk-ins for one night. Many parks require a five- or seven-night minimum June 1 through Labor Day. Shorter stays are allowed for reservations made less than 30 days in advance. A three-night minimum is required for Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving weekends.

Deposits and Cancellations: A deposit of one night’s lodging is required. Deposits may be refunded if a minimum of 72 hours cancellation notice is given, minus a $10 per unit cancellation fee. Any unused portion of a reservation may be refunded only if minimum occupancy has been met. Because deposit restrictions may apply to reservations of 7 to 14 days, guests should confirm cancellation policies before making a reservation.  Reservations may be transferred once to another date, facility or park without penalty, if made at least 72 hours in advance.  Cancellations can be processed on-line, however, reservation changes cannot be made online.  Please call 1-800-864-7275.

Occupancy: Visitors occupying a cottage for 14 nights must vacate the park for at least three nights before returning. Cottages may not be used to accommodate more than their stated capacities.

Check-In: Check-in is between 4 and 10 p.m., and check-out is 11 a.m. A reservation confirmation must be presented at check-in. Guests must pay the full balance of their reservation upon check-in. Both the reservation and deposit are forfeited if the guest does not check in by 10 p.m. on the scheduled arrival date. Most park gates are locked at 10 p.m. A late fee will be charged after 11 a.m. unless a check-out extension is permitted by the Park Office.

Rules: Dishes should be washed and put away and the cottage left in good condition.  Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Furnishings and linens may not be carried outside cottages. Occupants will be charged for damaged or missing items. Small groups such as Scouts may occupy a single cottage during a park’s off-season provided the group is properly chaperoned and capacity is not exceeded.

Pets: Dogs are now allowed ONLY in cottages designated as "dog friendly." (Additional fee charged; reservations required; dogs only.) Pets are not allowed in or around any other cottages.
