Group Shelters

Georgia's State Parks are perfect locations for family reunions, weddings, business meetings and parties. Guests will enjoy the retreat-like atmosphere and scenic beauty, as well as hiking, swimming, boating, golf, fishing and more. Groups can even spend the night in Group Lodges, Group Camps and Pioneer Campsites.

		Group Shelters: Special Event Facilities Perfect for family reunions and church picnics, enclosed group shelters have tables and chairs for 50 to 250, kitchens, restrooms and adjacent parking. Most have heat and air conditioning, and many have large barbecue pits. Shelters must be vacated by 9:45 p.m. and all vehicles must display a ParkPass ($5). Cancellations must be made at least 30 days in advance and will be assessed a $10 fee.
		Pioneer Camping: Roughing It Organized groups can pitch tents in these private camping areas found at most state parks. All come with water spigots and pit toilets, and some have covered picnic shelters and grills. These primitive campsites will not accommodate RVs or trailers and do not provide showers.
		Picnic Shelters: We’ve Got You Covered All state parks except Sapelo Island have covered picnic tables that may be reserved up to 13 months in advance and are available on a first-come basis if not reserved. These open-air shelters include several tables assembled under a single roof and sometimes a barbecue pit or grills. Parking and restrooms are nearby. Shelters must be vacated by 9:45 p.m. and all vehicles must display a ParkPass ($5). Cancellations must be made 30 days in advance and will be assessed a $10 fee.
		Group Camps: Summer Camp Fun (Not reservable online; call 1-800-864-7275) Group camps are reminiscent of going away to summer camp and are perfect for large youth gatherings. While each is unique, they all provide rustic “cabins” with bunk beds, large kitchens, dining/assembly rooms, restrooms with hot showers, activity areas and swimming facilities (except Unicoi). Linens are not provided. Minimum occupancy is two nights, and a deposit is required. Cancellations must be made at least six months in advance and will be assessed a $50 cancellation fee. Group camps are found at A.H. Stephens, F.D. Roosevelt, Hard Labor Creek, Indian Springs, Kolomoki, Laura S. Walker, and Magnolia Springs state parks. 		Group Lodges: Your Own Private Retreat (Not reservable online; call 1-800-864-7275) A group lodge is one large facility with dormitory sleeping quarters for 12 to 50, restrooms with hot showers, and a kitchen and dining area. Guests provide their own linens. Minimum occupancy is two nights, and a deposit is required. Cancellations must be made at least one month in advance and will be assessed a $10 fee. Group lodges are found at Cloudland Canyon, John Tanner, George T. Bagby and General Coffee and Magnolia Springs state parks.
		Platform Camping Covered platforms at Unicoi and Fort Mountain state parks are available to groups and individuals. A bathhouse with hot showers is within walking distance. Tents may not be pitched on these platforms. Photos
		Suwannee River Eco-Lodge The Suwannee River Eco-Lodge is in Fargo, 18 miles from the famed Okefenokee Swamp. It features eight cottages with kitchens, meeting space, a barbecue shelter and commercial kitchen. The Suwannee River Visitor Center and a boat ramp are just down the road. Operated by Stephen C. Things to Know about Group Facilities

Group Shelters and Picnic Shelters are open 10 a.m.-9:45 p.m. Events must end by 9:45 p.m. All vehicles in the group must display a ParkPass.
A ParkPass is the daily parking fee ($5) required at all Georgia State Parks.
