The nostalgic tune of a train whistle is bringing tourists to southwest Georgia.  Beginning in Cordele, just off I-75, the vintage cars stop in Leslie, Americus and Plains.  Along the way, riders can see Former President Jimmy Carter's boyhood home and farm, Habitat for Humanity's Global Village, a fascinating telephone museum, shops, restaurants and more.

“Excursion trains are a wonderful opportunity for families to spend a whole day together, traveling the way people did a hundred years ago and slowing down to enjoy their journey," said Manager Kathy Odom. "Plus, the SAM Shortline is the kind of train people will ride over and over because it stops in several locations."
