Boating
Many who own their own boats consider the lakes of Georgia State Parks their second (vacation) home. To make it easy for boaters, most parks offer public boat ramps and docks, and a few even feature marinas. Some facilities may be closed during extreme droughts so it's always best to check ahead.

With more than 20 state parks that rent motorized boats by the hour, you don't have to go far to find one. Renting is fast and easy, so whether you plan to cast a fishing line or just cast your eyes on the panoramic beauty, you'll be doing it in no time.

Water skiing, sailing and personal watercraft are permitted at parks on large lakes; however, some parks on smaller lakes have horsepower restrictions to preserve the tranquil and serene setting. Top parks for skiing are Red Top Mountain, Tugaloo, Hart, Richard B. RussellElijah Clark, Mistletoe, Florence Marina, George T. Bagby, Georgia Veterans, and Seminole.

And don't forget, for added adventure, Stephen C. Foster State Park offers guided boat tours through the mysterious Okefenokee Swamp, while Reed Bingham State Park offers pontoon boat tours of their blackwater lake.
