Dog Walking: Four-Legged Visitors are Welcome!

Georgia State Parks don’t just offer getaways—relaxing or adventurous—for you, they’re perfect places to bring your furry best friend too! Regardless of the breed, every dog responds to its natural instincts and reacts to nature in the most positive ways. That’s why you’ll see a wagging tail the whole way along your walk.
You will find that all Georgia State Parks are dog-friendly, making them the ideal place to explore and get exercise together. Just remember, for the safety of your pet and others, your dog must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times. Also, dogs are not allowed on most historic sites and on some trails at some parks. Out of consideration for others, we also ask that you pick up after your dog. Check with the park in advance to make sure you and your dog have a great experience.
For a travel adventure with your furry friend, rent a dog-friendly cottage and stay in the park awhile. Every Georgia State Park that offers cottages has at least one that’s dog-friendly. There are a few simple rules dog owners (and pets) must obey. Find out more about traveling with pets at Georgia State Parks.
