Guided Fort Tours, Grades 1st-12th
Follow in the footsteps of a Redcoat Soldier. From discovery to defense, muskets and mutiny! Learn about the history of Georgia's first fort.

Q: How do these programs relate to what I am teaching?
A: Each of these programs were designed to align specifically around the grade-specific standards outlined by Georgia’s Standards of Excellence.
Q: Is there a cost or limit for chaperones?
A: There is no limit for the number of chaperones that can come on a ranger-led program, however parking for chaperones is limited to 10 spaces to accommodate the busses.
Q: How early in advance do I need to book our program?
A: We require at least a two-week notice to book any ranger-led programs. In order to book your ranger-led program either call the Visitor Center at 912-437-4770.
Ranger-Led Additional Information
The lead teacher and bus drivers are free, the rest pay standard adult group rate.
If you can’t make the trip to the Historic Site, we will bring a little piece of the Historic Site to you. Outreach programs can be scheduled within a 30-mile radius of the Historic Site (Outreach programs beyond the 30 mile radius may incur additional fees due to fuel). The cost is $150.00 per program for a group. Programs are 60 minutes in length (Additional $50 per hour for programs lasting over an hour). The following outreach programs are available. Fort King George History
A Ranger will talk about the fort and its history. The ranger will be in period correct soldier attire.
A ranger will discuss how 18th century doctors practiced medicine. The ranger will be in period correct attire and will bring a selection of colonial medical tools.
Colonial Toys and Games
A ranger will bring a selection of 18th century toys and games. This is a hands on program recommended for smaller groups or as part of a rotation.
Educators and group leaders have the opportunity to experience Fort King George on a self-guided tour. Groups can explore the Fort grounds and buildings as well as our museum. Advanced booking and group admission rates apply.
