Temporary Closure of Lodge and Villas at Lake Blackshear Resort

Cordele, Georgia

Responding to the temporary closure of the Villas and Lodge rooms at Lake Blackshear Resort, the Department of Natural Resources is planning steps to minimize negative economic impact to the local community and the southwest Georgia region.

Working with Resort operating partner Coral Hospitality, the Department plans to announce details next week that will include limited operation of the restaurants and accommodating local groups that have the conference center reserved for meetings and events.   Plans will also include an effort to minimize the impact to effected employees.

The property continues to be a great vacation destination with boating at Lake Blackshear Marina, golf at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Golf Course, as well as the SAM Shortline Excursion Train and the Georgia Veterans State Park Museum. Other activities open to guests include the Archery and Air Rifle Range, as well as a 3-D Archery Trail.

Updates and additional information will be provided when available.  The Department appreciates the support of the community as this challenge is addressed.
