Midsummer's Eve Sunset at Blood Mountain

Vogel State Park - Blairsville, GA
Join the Naturalist on a hike from Neel’s Gap to witness the Midsummer’s Eve sunset from the top of Blood Mountain and learn how different cultures celebrate this annual event. This will be a 4.4 mile strenuous hike, taken at a moderate pace, which will start and end at the Byron Herbert Reece parking lot off of Hwy 19/129. The hike should last 3-4 hours. Preregistration is required. $5.00 participation fee 706-745-2628.

Get Outdoors Georgia Independence Day at Vogel

Come to one of our nation's oldest state parks as we celebrate our independence with a flag-raising ceremony, bicycle parade, pedal boat races, sandcastle building competition, watermelon eating, sack races, egg tosses and greased pole climbing. $5 parking. 706-745-2628.

Celebrate autumn’s arrival with noon chili, hotdogs and drinks for sale, followed by a 3 p.m. cakewalk, 4 p.m. hayrides, 5 p.m. bonfire and square/line dancing, 6 p.m. trunk or treats, and 7 p.m. professional storytelling. A $3 fee will be charged per person, per hayride for 13 years and up. $5 parking. 706-745-2628.
