Wildlife Management Areas in Georgia

Warwoman WMA

Warwoman Wildlife Management Area is located in Rabun County. This 15,800 acre property offers hunting opportunities for deer, bear, turkey and small game. There are over 35 miles of hiking and nature trails available. rout fishing is available at Hood Creek, Walnut Fork Creek, Sarah's Creek and tributaries of each.

 

Townsend WMA

Townsend Wildlife Management Area is located in Long and McIntosh counties. The property offers deer, turkey, small game and waterfowl hunting. Townsend WMA is made up of four tracts of land - North Townsend, South Townsend, Buck Island, and Pine Island Tract. Together, they comprise 32,000 acres of land on the north side of the Altamaha River between route 301 and the city of Darien.

 

Spirit Creek Forest WMA

Spirit Creek Forest Wildlife Management Area is located in Richmond County. The 570 acre property offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey and small game hunting. Gates may be closed or opened at the discretion of the Georgia Forestry Commission. No camping or ATVs allowed on the property.

 

Sansavilla WMA

Sansavilla Wildlife Management Area is located in Wayne County along the Altamaha River. This 16,867 acre property offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey and small game. There is no camping allowed on the property. 

 

Rum Creek WMA

Rum Creek Wildlife Management Area is located in Monroe County. The 5,739 acre property has hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, small game, dove, waterfowl, and coyote.

Redlands WMA

Redlands Wildlife Management Area is spread over Greene, Oglethorpe, Oconee and Morgan counties. The 37,500 acre property offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, small game and dove. There is no hunting on Dyars Pasture marsh pond.

Pine Log WMA

Pine Log Wildlife Management Area is located in White, GA. This 14,134 acre property offers opportunities for deer, bear, turkey, small game and dove hunting. There are over 23 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails as well as access to trout streams. Trails are closed all day during deer firearms season and before 10:00 a.m. during deer archery and turkey season. No ATVs are allowed on the property. No night hunting.

Phinizy Swamp WMA

Phinizy Swamp Wildlife Management Area is located in Richmond County. This 1,500 acre property offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, small game and waterfowl. There are also five ponds that provide walk-in fishing opportunities at Phinizy Swamp. No camping is allowed on the WMA. 

 

Penholoway Swamp WMA

Penholoway Swamp Wildlife Management Area is located in near Jesup, GA. This 10,546 acre property has hunting opportunities for deer, turkey and small game. All areas north of Paradise Park Rd. are archery only. Cogden Lake and Hogan Lake offer great fishing opportunities.

This area includes the Boyles Island Tract. Access to Boyles Island is by river only.
