Fishing - Moccasin Creek State Park

Moccasin Creek Logo

This park has a popular, heavily stocked section on Moccasin Creek that is open only to seniors 65 and older, children 11 and younger, and those with disabilities. The public may fish Lake Burton from the banks or use the park’s boat ramp. Personnel from adjacent Burton Trout Hatchery regularly release catchable-sized trout into the creek from spring through fall. More than a dozen fish species call Lake Burton home, including trout, largemouth and spotted bass, perch, bluegill, shellcrackers, crappie and catfish. Brown trout are stocked annually, supporting a trophy fishery for the species. A freshwater license and trout stamp are required. (Information provided by OnTheFlySouth.com.)
