Park Highlight: Victoria Bryant State Park

Load up the car and head to pretty Victoria Bryant State Park in Royston. Located only 30 miles from Athens, Victoria Bryant is a quiet getaway that will make you feel like you are miles away. If it has been a while since the last visit, here is what visitors can look forward to discovering.

Park Description:

A hidden north Georgia gem and one of the peach state’s best-kept secrets, Victoria Bryant State Park offers several exploration opportunities for adventurous guests and golf enthusiasts. Bursting at the seams with adventure and family-friendly activities, this gorgeous state park has a scenic stream that flows throughout the park, setting the scene for a picnic or relaxing stroll. Other features for visitors include, archery, fishing, nature trails for hike enthusiasts, a swimming pool – available to guests in the summer time for a small fee and equipped with a lifeguard – and so much more.

Hit the Greens:

Located atop steep rolling hills, the picturesque Highland Walk Golf Course at Victoria Bryant State Park is the ideal place for a round of golf. This challenging 18-hole course offers crowned Bermuda fairways leading to generous, sloping Bermuda greens and lush Bermuda fairways. Check the Highland Walk website for tee times and a plethora of specials and promotions each month, full amenities, memberships, golf packages and tournament pricing. Deals and specials depending on the month include Senior Day, Ladies Day and Government Employee Day – great for military, first responders and teachers.

For a good night’s sleep before or after a day on the greens, guests can reserve a stay at the course’s Bluebird Cottage. Available for stay and play overnight golf packages, the spacious and homey cottage sleeps 12-14 people and offers guests a chance to soak up the ambiance offered by Georgia’s great outdoors. What to do while visiting:

Things to do and see at this diverse and expansive state park do not end at the golf greens. For a day of family fun, guests can enjoy archery and choose from traditional static ranges and shoot into “bow butt” targets in free-standing sheds or realistic targets, where guests can take aim at three-dimensional targets. Other daytime activities available at the scenic park include fishing, geocaching, boating and casual biking – with bikes available for rent at the park – or through the Muddy Spokes Club. This unique club, exclusive to some Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites, challenges mountain bikers and casual cyclists to tackle 11 state parks and 68 miles of trails.

Where to stay:

To allow enough time to explore and partake in all park offerings, park-goers can reserve a night’s stay or two at one of the park’s campground. Victoria Bryant State Park offers 22 tent, trailer and RV campsites, one tent/RV combo campsite, eight platform walk-in campsites, and two pioneer campgrounds, which sleep 75 people.
